Any opinions expressed within this blog are my own. I can not attribute them to my present or past employers as I consider myself an independent thinker and try to build on the views of others rather than adopt them. I have attempted to credit others as much as possible when their views have influenced mine.

I was born in New Brunswick and I have had the good fortune to live, work and visit all of Canada’s provinces and territories with the exception of Newfoundland. I hope that in the not too distant future I will be able to edit this statement.

In my professional life I have been a teacher, vice-principal, resource developer and curriculum specialist in 1 territory and 2 provinces. Most of my career has been focused on mathematics culminating with the development of the Western and Northern Canadian Protocol (WNCP) Common Curriculum Framework for Kindergarten to Grade 12 Mathematics.

I now feel the next step in my journey is to go back into the classroom and gain some valuable hands on experience. As a result, the next steps in my life long learning adventure have taken me to St Michaels University School where I happily teach middle school students to think mathematically. Thus the name of my blog, Math in the Middle.

I truly hope anyone reading this blog is as fortunate as I have been in my professional career.

    Dear Richard,
Welcome back to the world of the classroom teacher! Imagine my surprise when you popped up on my Twitter requesting a free grading program. Thrilled to welcome you to my world. Free grading programs are OK and there are quite a few that are good. My preference is for the paid one Integrade Pro because it allows me to evaluate by learning outcomes without assigning numerical values. I have found it to be the most versatile program out there. Worth it to me.
Anyway Richard I will follow your blog with interest now that I have found you!

HI Barb. Thanks for the welcome. It has been a blast so far. We have not had students yet but all of the staff that I have met are awesome and it is a wonderful school. I am really looking forward to having the students come next week.

I was actually reposting the Tweet from someone else but I am glad I did as the replies gave me some ideas of things I want to try this year.

Do you have a bog? I would love to follow.

Have a great year and as always nice to hear from you. I am sure we will cross paths in person again soon.
